Guitar Aerobics One Lick Per Day 52 Week Technique Improving Program - 112 Pages - 2 Audio CD Disks

When we make a goal to improve ourselves in some particular aspect,
most of us find that if we have some sort of commitment to that goal, we have a better chance for success in reaching it. what am I talking about? Let's look at some examples: if I want to lose a few pounds and get in shape, I might take out a one year gym membership. This is a commitment, through money, time, etc, to follow through on my original goal. As guitar players, we all desire to get better and better in our playing, our chops, and our overall guitar technique. What's cool about this book is it's especially designed to do just that. This is a unique book from start to finish. This book is a guitar workout program that you can use for a few minutes a day for a 365 day year. You get a full 365 separate guitar licks you'll focus on a different lick every day of the year for an entire year.

And the licks aren't just some meaningless, nonsensical, awful sounding exercises. These are all actual nice sounding and melodic lick exercises. After you've learned them and exercised your fingers with them, you can add them to your playing as you see fit. As mentioned earlier, there are 365 days of exercises. Each day's exercise has several pieces of information, in addition to the music (standard notation and tablature). The exercise number, which corresponds to the day of the year. The CD track number, and the location time inside of that track. The technique you'll be working on: skipping, bending, etc. The musical genre the lick belongs to. The book has licks from Rock, Blues, Metal, Jazz, and Country music styles. A music description of the exercise and a tip to assist you in playing it well. You'll find that the description and tips are extremely helpful: like something a music teacher would be telling you every day as you study your guitar exercises.

About The Audio CD Set
What to expect with the 2 audio CD disks that come with the book. All of the music examples are on the first CD with 1 track used for each week. The times within each track for the start of each day's lesson are listed in the book. Having a track for each week is the quickest way to find the music you're interested in working with on any given day. CD disk number 1 also has tuning notes for you to tune your guitar to the pitch of the CD. CD disk number 2 has a cook feature that will help you in your practice sessions. Drum tracks recorded by a drummer at some different tempos, and for all the different genres represented in the exercises. CD disk number 2 will make your practice sessions much more enjoyable as you will be playing along to a drummer instead of hearing a metronome.

As you go through the year with this book as a part of your daily guitar practice routine, you'll see it has a weekly rhythm pattern that the licks will fall into: Each day of the week has its own specific technique that will get focused on. On Mondays, you practice alternate picking, Tuesdays will have a phrase that includes skipping strings. Every Wednesday the exercise you work on will include the technique of string bending. On Thursdays, you'll work with arpeggios. The theme for Fridays in working with sweep picking. On Saturdays, you'll be working with the legato technique, and Sundays will have you focusing on rhythm concepts. As you'll see, some of the techniques lend themselves more to certain genres, so those genres will tend to be more popular on certain days.

As you read about this book you might be wondering if it's too easy or too difficult to fit in with your current practice sessions and level of playing. Well, according to the author, the book's exercises have a skill level that ranges from beginner (located towards the front of the book) to advanced (at the rear section of the book). And if you find what you're doing is too easy, there's nothing to stop you from moving forward to another part of the book. Week 18 is considered the level for intermediate players. Week 36 starts the advanced section of the exercise book. So you just have to jump in at the appropriate area of the book and work the exercises.
